Curb appeal is important for many reasons, so it should be obvious that you need to boost it in every possible way when selling your house. However, if you plan the sale for the winter season, you’ll have a hard time because the majority of curb appeal tricks have to do with landscaping.
Does this mean you can’t enhance your property’s curb appeal when there’s nothing green around?
Of course not, you just need to get more creative about it. Here are some ideas you can try:
Give the House a Paintjob
If the weather allows (or if you plan this thing in advance and prep the property ahead of the rains) you definitely should give your home a new paintjob. Fresh paint will make the property stand out in the dreadfully bleak cold season. You might choose some warm color to make the house appear cozy at first glance. It will go a long way to set the right mood.
Plant a Few Evergreen Plants
You need to make your loan clean and pretty even if the weather doesn’t allow for luscious green grass. The best you can do during the cold season is to keep it clean and to plant a few evergreen plants on your flowerbeds. Look into various types of junipers as they are perfect for winter landscaping. And they look just as good in the summer as well.
Take out the Christmas Lights
Even if it’s not Christmas yet, you definitely should take out the lights from storage and play with them to make your property seem more appealing. Warm yellow lights that don’t have distinct Christmas associations will be best. Place them on bushes and trees near the paths and porch. Don’t overdo it with the lights as you are going for “elegant” instead of a “fairground”.
Also, try putting a few lanterns with candles on the porch when staging the home.
And because the lighting is the biggest curb-appeal booster for winter, be sure to schedule viewings for the evening.
