Life really changes once you have children. One of the major changes is to the vacations we take, as there are even more things to think about when you travel with kids. Luckily, some of the world’s best destinations are now catering to people who want to travel in luxury without leaving the kids at home. Luxury travel with children can still be amazing, but there are a few simple tips to help you.
The Flight
You can still take long-haul flights with children if you prepare. Take plenty of snacks, toys, and other activities to keep them occupied. You can make a makeshift tent with a blanket and butterfly clips to help your child sleep in the bright lights of the cabin, so they’re not tired and miserable.
The Hotel
You need a hotel that understands what a family needs without being entirely focused on children. Look for a hotel that offers it all, from being able to help you book tickets to nearby family attractions, like Seaworld San Antonio tickets, to a restaurant on site that has both kid-friendly options and a range of delicious dishes to appeal to the adults.
The Restaurant
Food is often a vacation problem. It can be a good idea to go to restaurants armed with distractions, so you can chat and enjoy your meal without entertaining the children. Look for places with an interesting kids’ menu, with more options than basic fish fingers.
The Kid’s Club
Some parents want to use the kids’ club all day, whereas others want to spend their vacation with their children always in sight. A kids’ club can be a good way to occupy children when you or they have got bored sandcastles and the pool. The best kids’ clubs have staff trained to engage even the shyest children, so they can go off and enjoy themselves without you worrying about them.
If you do use the kids’ club, book the afternoon session. It might seem like a good idea to book the morning session so you can have a lie-in, but you’ll have to get up to get the children anyway. If you’re staying somewhere hot, the afternoon is when the temperatures are highest, which can be tough for kids. In the morning, the beach is usually quieter and cooler, and you can have a lazy family breakfast before the children are able to go and work off their energy for the afternoon while you do something else. If you’re worried about leaving nervous children, look for a kids club that has an area for parents of children who may be less confident. Your children can entertain themselves without worrying about where you’ve gone, and you can relax with a book, without worrying about them, but still in their line of sight. Look for hotels with kids clubs that offer plenty of different indoor and outdoor activities for kids of all ages. A space for teens can be useful if you have older children.
